From the President - Helene Savage

Hi Everyone,

I hope that you are enjoying your summer, now that the rain is (hopefully) over… The past few months have been very busy, but productive in our Jaycee lives. Now that the budget review and approval process is complete, and Founder’s Day has passed,

I’m looking forward to having a bit of summer relaxation, and I hope that you do the same.

I thought that I would try a new twist on my report this month, and I’m sure that this will look familiar to all of my friends on Facebook!

Four Things

Founders Day was a great success because:
1. The weather cooperated ☺
2. A lot of people pitched in with some great work!
3. We were (once again) very visible to the community
4. We were able meet our target profit amounts (yay!)

Great projects that you should think about participating in:
1. Pickup volleyball on Tuesday nights @ 6:00
2. Concerts on Thursdays @ 7:00—great shows!
3. DVDs for Vets—do you have DVDs that you can spare?
4. Mini-Haunt—we would love for you to help!

More “goings on” in the chapter:
1. Kathy Brady and friends have put in a lot of hard work on sprucing up the skate park—Thank you!
2. Paul Lanza looked great in his cowboy costume on Founders Day—and made the paper!
3.Jen Widmer and team raised a lot of money for the Relay for Life.
4. Monica Fisler and I scooped ice cream and earned some fast cash from Baskin & Robbins

I’d love to hear your feedback on:
1. New ideas for projects
2. Thoughts on recruitment ideas for potential members
3. How best can we communicate with you and keep you updated on chapter events
4. Ideas for programs or speakers for the General Meetings?

The following projects are “Chairman Needed.” Can you help?
1. Concerts on the Common Concessions—to assist Nancy Rivera
2. Publicity—this is a reeeaaaallly easy one!
3. Craft/Vendor Fair—there is a great CPG on this project, written by yours truly ☺
4. Activation/Mentor Program

My thoughts are with:
1. Bob and Sue Gillis for the recent passing of their dog Missy. May she rest in peace.
2. Monica Rigamonti for the purchase of her condominium! Congrats!
3. Tom Whiffen and Jen Diederich for their upcoming wedding. May you have a lifetime of happiness!
4. All of our members who work tirelessly to keep the Jaycees alive and well in Foxboro!

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the July General Meeting or an upcoming project!

Proud to be your President,
Helene Savage
Ways & Means - Vice President: Vanessa Linke; Director: Vanessa Caffin

Dear fellow Foxboro Jaycees,

Founders’ Day Ways & Means Events: Thank you! Thank you to my Chairpeople and all the participants of this year’s Founders Day. It was a big day for us, but you guys helped us towards our goals! We are working on finalizing the numbers, so please submit your expenses to Greg as soon as you can. Also, be sure to send out any “thank-you”s to anyone who donated or greatly supported our fundraising efforts.

Mini-Haunt: So, it is time to talk mini-haunt. Please join us on Wed, Jul 8, at 7:30 (before the GM) at the Community Center to discuss plans for the mini-haunt, to gauge chapter interest level, and to begin forming a committee. Vanessa Caffin has a lot of great ideas and we are looking for support from the chapter for the project.

Concerts on the Common Concessions: Nancy Rivera has already completed the first two concerts of this summer, and from what I have seen, she is doing very well! Please offer to help her at a concert or come purchase from our concessions stand in the next couple of months.

Flyer Fundraiser: Baskin Robbins Monica Fisler organized this fundraiser that brought in another $169 for the chapter and I know she and Helene are sore from scooping ice cream! Thanks to everyone who attended this event!

Appraisal Day/ Vendor Fair: Mark your calendars for Nov. 21st – this is the tentative date for the Appraisal day with small Vendor Fair. Linda Magovern has done a lot of the prep work, but she is looking to hand this project off to a new chairman. Please let me know if you are interested.

Texas Poker Night: Derek House & Max Loew offered to organize this event, but because Massachusetts gambling regulations are quite strict, we are still in process of getting all of our necessary documentation straightened out. Details to follow.

Town Scavenger Hunt : Jen Widmer is tentatively considering running the Town Scavenger Hunt in September. She is working on forming her committee and is planning a first meeting on Wednesday, July 29th at 8:00pm at the Widmer house.

Stadium Project: I will continue to investigate our options at Gillette. If anyone is interested in chairing this project either in 2009 or 2010, give me a call.
If you are interested in running any Ways & Means project, such as a Community Yard Sale,

Spaghetti Dinner, Hole-In-One golf Insurance event, ticket sales, home party, or other fundraiser, feel free to give me a call so that we can chat. I have contacts, basic info, or perhaps even a CPG for most of the potential projects. I will gladly help you get the project started if you need support!

As always, I'd love to hear from you with ideas, questions, or concerns.
~ Vanessa Linke
