In loving memory of John Underwood

JOHN CHRISTIAN UNDERWOOD, 27, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Cuylerville, New York.

He was born the son of Edward J. Underwood and Mary V. Valentino on January 3, 1998, in Norwood, Massachusetts.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mansfield, the Foxboro Jaycees and Mansfield Scout Troop 51.

For the past six years, John became known as the ice cream man behind John’s Dream Ice Cream, his 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit through which he raised funds for organizations serving individuals with epilepsy and intellectual/developmental disabilities. He also enjoyed archery, bowling, fishing, horsemanship, recycling and making people smile.

John will be forever cherished by his parents, Mary Valentino and Ed Underwood of Massachusetts, and his brother, Thomas James Underwood of Massachusetts. He will be remembered with much love by numerous aunts and uncles: Carmen Jr. and Rosa Valentino, Cheryl Valentino, Tom and Wendy Naratil, Cindy Underwood and Jim Underwood. Many cousins and dear loving friends will also keep him close in their hearts. John was predeceased by his grandparents, Carmen Sr. and Mary Ann Valentino, as well as Ed

and Betty Underwood.

Friends and family may call Monday, March 24, from 4 to 7 PM at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris, NY. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 10 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (St. Juan Diego), Leicester, NY. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Geneseo, NY.
