Jaycee Spelling Bee 2014

From the introduction speech, Friday, May 30, 2Bee014:

“…You might remember that years ago the community spelling bee was held each year right here in this auditorium as a fundraiser for the Bill Palladino scholarship fund.

Well, the Jaycees thought it was time to bring back the bee. You may not know that Foxboro Jaycees rely on fundraising efforts to finance all of our community development activities. Our free summer’s concerts on the common – now in their 21st season – are coming up. We have the Easter Egg Hunt. Sand for seniors. Candidates night. Numerous Founder’s Day activities, a full calendar of December Christmas activities including assembling 250 fruit baskets for the needy and decorating the common, and coming up in August – National night out against crime and drugs.

The Jaycees built the Booth Skating Park and the Payson Road Playground and the Common bandstand.

Since 1961, the Jaycees have been making a difference in Foxboro – and we thank you for coming to this event tonight to help fund our activities and bring back the bee.

We would like to thank the Ahern School for hosting the bee, and our great friends at Foxboro Cable Access for recoding and broadcasting this event.

And to add to the fun, we have an ongoing raffle this evening:

1st prize – a Rob Gronkowski Autographed Football donated by the Kraft Group, 2nd prize: Four VIP passes to 5-Wits, donated by 5-Wits, 3rd Prize, a $40.00 Gift Certificate to Lawtons Farm donated by the Lawtons.”
