Memorial Day

These twenty-nine crosses – each one with the name of a Foxboro resident who gave their life for this country while serving in the military, is placed at the foot of Foxboro common each Memorial Day. The 29 names begin in World War I and end with Viet Nam. The beautiful metal crosses were created by the late Cliff Curry, a master craftsman whose expertise in metalwork was well known.

After Cliff died, Tom Sawran took over the privilege, ensuring that the crosses were placed each Memorial day. Tom created a custom-fitting base for the crosses to perfectly fit on the iconic Foxboro Common fence.

With Tom’s passing in 2013, the Foxboro Jaycees have assumed responsibility for the memorial, and each year, on the Sunday night before Memorial Day, with no fanfare, they quietly affix the memorial to the Common fence, to ensure that these 29 Foxboro heroes are always remembered.
